Breast biospy

Hello

Im Dorothy. I had a breast biospy on wednesday and a breast clip. I should of been going back on the 11th August but Friday the hopsital phoned me and asked me to go in on Monday im so scared and my anxiety is so bad at the min. As my nana, mum and my sister had breast cancer. So it making me nervous

  • Hi Dorothy,

A very warm welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear of your anxiety and have a feeling of what this wait is doing to you. I lost my mum, grandmother and several other family members to breast cancer and I found the wait for results just tortuous. There are so many unknowns at this stage, that it is hard to stop our over active imaginations leading us to all sorts of dark places. Irrespective of the results, you will feel better once you know the outcome.

Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but I was relieved to discover that my diagnosis, treatment and after care were in no way as traumatic as I expected. There had been an interval of a few years between their experiences and mine and there was just no comparison. My relatives all had a hard time with treatment. I did find it a challenge, but it had improved so much in the interim and was all perfectly "doable".

Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts or fibroadenoma. It is a fact that of all those who attend the breast clinic, only 20% will get a cancer diagnosis. I am glad to see that you don't have long to wait until your appointment on Monday and I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found.. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Dot,

I am so sorry to hear that you lost both your mum and your dad to this disease, I hope that your sister is coping with treatment and managing to fight this.

I have finished treatment and am thankfully cancer free at present. Most of us would agree that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey.

I look forward to hearing from you after Monday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
