CLog (part 3):
By the way, I’m almost through my fourth week out of 6 with my treatment, and I’m doing ok. (This CLog was first posted a few days ago on other Socials).
Life has a way of bringing us back down to earth… doesn’t it? To think, just over 12 months ago I was at Everest Base Camp!
Whirlwind.. is the only word I can use to describe the few weeks following me being ‘fast tracked’. From my experience once you’re in the ‘system’, the NHS is amazing and I have a lot to thank them for.
Not sure how many appointments I had, I lost count, but after biopsies, CAT and PET scans, dentist appointments the day came when we visited the hospital to find out the outcome.
For whatever reason, I’d prepared myself for the worst, which is unusual for me as normally I’m a positive thinker, but I just new, but unfortunately my wife hadn’t prepared for the worst.
Walking into the docs office gave it away a little, the doctor and a nurse were already sat there and after Mand and I walked in, we were followed by a guy with a MacMillan badge… I wonder why he’s joined us
The doctor went on to explain all and at a point in time came out with 2 or 3 words which meant nothing to me, and so I stopped her and asked “what does that mean”, her simple response was,,, ‘it’s Cancer’!
Being hit with the Big ‘C’ for the second time was heartbreaking, I can’t explain what goes on in your mind for the next few days, I just can’t… and this is where your support network kicks in, and we’ll talk about this in my next CLog.
I think that the only thing I would suggest from this CLog, is that sometimes we have to prepare for the worst, and find a way to cope.
Today’s track from my years:
Elton John was my favourite artist from my youth, I’ve been fortunate enough to see him in concert 3 times, the first being at Kings Hall, Belle Vue in November 1973 when two 13 year old lads, Tony Drury and I, probably the only Elton fans at our school, made our way to the venue and loved every mo.
This is dedicated to Tony, not one of Elton’s well known tracks but for me the lyrics by Bernie Taupin are stunning, enjoy:
