Heya and welcome to the forums. Call the helpline 0808 800 4040 to chat to a nurse as well. Depending on your cancer in question you might wish to do a research trial too. Good luck and please do update us. You can do this. We are all here with you in addition here.
Hello Keithbfc
I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with a Merkel cell carcinoma. It's understandable that you're feeling overwhelmed by this news and worried about the next steps.
It's not unusual for further tests, such as a CT scan, to be requested after an initial diagnosis. It helps the specialists to get a clear overview of what is going on for the patient and formulate the best treatment options. Hopefully, it won't be too long before those results are available and the team make an appointment to talk about their recommendations with you.
We know that for many people, this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult. I wonder if you might find it useful to talk things through with one of our team of nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can as well as help you think about any questions that you might want to ask the team. If you'd like to chat with them, they're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.
We do have two other members who, hopefully, you might be able to connect with who have had an MCC diagnosis. Ian1976 posted to share his news earlier this month and Kittybo has also shared some of her story about being diagnosed with MCC. Hopefully, they will reply to say Hello.
Keep in touch Keith and let us know when you have more news. We're here for you.
Best wishes,
Jenn
