  • Hello Cleopatra66,

Thank you for posting and I'm very sorry to hear how you're feeling.

It seems like you've had a difficult time getting the care you want, which is a shame to hear. If you're unhappy or feel like you haven't been listened to, you can make a complaint at the clinic or you can also look for a second opinion. It's important that you feel heard every step of the way so do keep speaking up.

If you're finding things overwhelming, there is guidance on the Anxiety UK website, which might have some useful advice ahead of your appointment on Friday. There is also information on our website about getting diagnosed with endometrial cancer, including the different tests available and tips to getting the most out of appointments.

Also I'd suggest with anything that requires you to read on screen for a long time that you print it out, perhaps at home if you have a printer or, if possible, you can ask a friend to go to a local library or internet cafe to print it for you. On all the links I've added you can right-click on the page and select "open in reading mode", then highlight the text you want read out. This can help reduce the effects screen time on your eyes and allow you to process the information better.

I do hope this helps in some small way and let us know how Friday's appointment goes!

  • Hello Cleopatra66,
I’m reaching out again because we’ve been thinking about you and want to make sure you feel as supported as possible right now.
We understand that you’ve had very stressful experiences with housing and social services in the past, so we won't suggest contacting them. However, it sounds like you need someone "in your corner" right now to help navigate these medical appointments. If there is a trusted neighbour or a relative you feel comfortable with, perhaps they could help you deal with the authorities or even just be there to help ensure your voice is heard.
Beyond reaching out to someone you know personally, there are a few other avenues that might offer a different kind of support. You might find it helpful to contact Citizens Advice; they are often great at helping navigate these complex systems without the direct involvement of social services. It might also be worth having a very specific chat with your GP about your concerns regarding your thyroid symptoms and how you feel you’re burning through progesterone.
If you feel comfortable talking on the phone, I would also really encourage you to speak with our team of nurses. They are incredibly kind and used to talking through both the medical side of things. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Since we know using screens is so painful for you right now, please don't feel any pressure to reply to this. We are simply here whenever you need us.
Wishing you as much strength as possible for tomorrow.
    All the best,
    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
