  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat forum Kim, although I'm sorry to hear you were diagnosed with bowel cancer over the weekend.

I know how scary and overwhelming this must be for you right now but I'm glad you've reached out to us for support as our community is filled with members who know exactly what you're going through, so you are not alone Kim, and hopefully some of them will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

If it would help to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and answer any other questions you may have at this time.

We're wishing you all the best with your CT scan Kim and hope you don't have to wait too long to find out what happens next.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • You must be in a state of shock right now and it would be surprising if you weren't frightened.  I was in a similar situation almost 6 years ago. Eventually your mind will stop racing and meantime the professionals are putting things in place and the decisions they make will be backed by experience and knowledge. You may initially feel that things aren't moving quickly enough but the processes involved all take time and a small consolation at this time is to know that bowel cancer tends to be slow-growing.

I've had surgery, chemo, SABR (a type of radiotherapy) and ablation. I'm no expert but if there's anything you'd like to ask me, please feel free. Meantime I wish you well.
