Half way through chemo and wanted to say Hello!

Evening all, thought I'd give this a go and say hello.

I'm almost half way into my chemo treatment and I am doing pretty good so far.   The side effects are like clockwork so I expect the worse and then mentally I think and feel it's not so bad.

It's a tough journey folks but being positive definitely helps and thankfully I have a great group of friends thats have helped me so far

Hope this little messege helps at least one person smile

Stay gold

  • Also thought I'd mention I'm 46 years old and live on my own and have really struggled to sleep and have been having the weirdest of dreams and nightmares :)

  • Hello Vinay,

A very warm welcome to our forum! Well done for reaching that important milestone, the half way point... I am so glad you are doing so well and you are coping with the side effects.

It is indeed a tough journey as many of our members will know too well but you seem to be doing so well. Having a great group of friends is priceless and it sounds like your friends are super supportive.

It's so nice of you to come here and radiate so much positive energy and to be wanting to make others on here smile. I hope that the weird dreams and nightmares go away though.

I will let our members come and say hello and share their story with you!

Best wishes and good luck for the rest of your treatment. Keep us updated if you don't mind on how it all goes for you.

  • Hi lucie hope you are well.

Thought I would provide an update,   I have temporary stopped chemo as thankfully the cancer has reduced  in size and have a liver operation booked to chop it out next week..  Then all things being well ill continue the remaining chemo for 3 months..  I'm Convinced being positive is a major factor to get to this point on this sometimes bleak journey...   Just for perspective I went into a Macmillon support centre  a few weeks ago and the lady thought I was lost which kind of made my day and i gave her a brief update on my scenario etc.. She asked how they can help and my reply was nothing but is there any way I can help you today haha her face was a picture..  Moral of the story... be kind be happy be positive and be a ray of light if you can. Hopefully my next update is better. :) xx

  • Hello,...  Happy Friday :)

    Hope you are ok

  • Hello Djvglobal,

Thank you for taking the trouble to give us an update and it was certainly uplifting to read your post. I just wanted to say best of luck for your liver operation next week. I hope that it will all go well with the surgery as well as the chemotherapy treatment that will follow. The story of how you said to this lady 'Is there any way I can help you today?' made me smile. I bet she is not used to anyone asking her that!

You certainly seem to be a ray of light radiating kindness all around you.

Looking forward to reading your next update and I hope all will go well next week. We'll be thinking of you!

    Good luck for next week!

  • That's like asking me how longs a peice of string :)

Thankfully grew up In the 80s and 90s so without phones or Internet, makes such a difference today as its made me very socially active and love meeting new people etc and feel it's one of my best assets, put me in the tricky or awkward scenario and I'll be absolutely fine, don't get me wrong I do feel negative and low at times however I am able to snap myself out of it by either meditation or musuc or by simply having a  word with myself.

Having never asked for help in my entire life, this process has made me reach out and it's been the toughest challenge for me personally, and now I feel a bit silly for being a lone ranger and battling through life in general but I guess better late than never

Ticked off 99% of bucket list things over the years so pretty content.

West ham fan so feel free to give me some stick lol

I could go on but will leave it for now.

Please do let me know a little about yourself also if you're able to
