Hi to everyone: I’ve been put on the watch and wait programme for minimal prostate cancer

I’m new to posting. I’ve never done it before.

I am very lucky because I’ve been put on the watch and wait programme for minimal prostate cancer. So, I’m very lucky. It’s all very new, I found out Xmas eve. My wife knows. I’ve told no one else nor has my wife. I don’t want to ruin Xmas and NY for my family and friends. At the end of the day it’s minimal. My wife is struggling on, the diagnosis is really worrying her.

I’m very lucky…Yet, I’ve started to feel sad and I don’t know why.

May I ask how you in this community feel. If that is ok.

Thanks for reading my post.

  • Hi

I was diagnosed in June 25 and am in a similar position to you - active surveillance. I feel fortunate that the cancer has been discovered and that we are keeping watch and that I need no treatment currently. But, the fact that I do have cancer is upsetting! In the beginning it was much more at the front of my mind. Now 6 months down the line I can deal with it better, however I do struggle at times but I feel I can deal with it a little better now. I still haven’t told everyone.

It sounds bad because there are a lot of worse off people than me.

I have been looking for a support line and will try the number mentioned in the previous response.
