Hi to everyone: I’ve been put on the watch and wait programme for minimal prostate cancer

I’m new to posting. I’ve never done it before.

I am very lucky because I’ve been put on the watch and wait programme for minimal prostate cancer. So, I’m very lucky. It’s all very new, I found out Xmas eve. My wife knows. I’ve told no one else nor has my wife. I don’t want to ruin Xmas and NY for my family and friends. At the end of the day it’s minimal. My wife is struggling on, the diagnosis is really worrying her.

I’m very lucky…Yet, I’ve started to feel sad and I don’t know why.

May I ask how you in this community feel. If that is ok.

Thanks for reading my post.

  • Hello Norrin-Rad

I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with prostate cancer just before Christmas. It's perfectly understandable that you and your wife have been experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions since being given that news.

As you begin to share the news of your diagnosis with loved ones over the coming weeks, it may bring waves of emotion to the forefront for you both. Try not to worry too much about this, it's a normal part of the process.

Hopefully, over the coming weeks, the rollercoaster will slow down, and you'll both feel less overwhelmed by the news. In the meantime, have a look at the information on our website about watch and wait, it may help you to understand some of what you've been feeling.

If it would help you or your wife to chat things through with one of our nurses, do give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer you both any information, advice and reassurance they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

Keep in touch Norrin-Rad and let us know how you're both doing. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
