Wow how did I end up here?

I have 52 years experience of being a 21 year old.      (73 for those that are not good at maths),   live in Buckinghamshire, and have a wife and two bookies to support.

Keen sports fan of most types,  used to play a lot of Rugby, squash, Cross Country running and athletics  On the down side,  have been an Evertonian since the 60's.  Enjoyed the glory days of the 1970's and have suffered ever since

And as you have probably guessed , have a warped sense of humor.  I can see the funny side of nearly every situation. including what I have been through in the last 3 years.

If appropriate, I will add more shirtly.   Let me see how the forum works first.   Look forward to chats, discussion and banter with anuy one interested  and hopefully we can make the world a better place between us

Regards

  • Apologies for the typos       Shirtly = Shortly,    anuy one = anyone

  • Welcome to the forum David.

One in rwo of the population will get cancer in their lifetime so thats a lot of people who could end up here. Your good sense of humour will get you through. Amongst close friends I have a dark sense of humour about my situation, but moderate it in public. An amputee friend often makes dark jokes around the benefits of having just one leg. It helps him maintain good mental health, breaks the ice when meeting new people and cheers people up, focussing their attention on him rather than his disability. Cancer has its dark moments and if I couldnt laugh about it I'd probably cry.

  • Hello David,

how do you greet your latest new "friend" Adversity? as he attempts infiltration into your world with his associates Gloom and Misery. My response has always been to give them such a hard time they will beggar off elsewhere to chance their arm.

l have become well versed over the years in coping with highs followed by the lows of a rollercoaster state of affairs, attributing all l have learnt from being a lifelong supporter of the Spurs, a wicked temptress that beguiles you with a seductive promise as it beckons you to follow around the corner, and inserts a well aimed boot between your "goalposts" when you do

Its not so much that l live life tripping the light fantastic, or trudging along to the funeral march, but you would understand and be in hysterics if you see me dance---Oh the little things in ones life that make it so worthwhile,

    ironic smiles always help.

  • Thanks for the response David.   Spurs you say  ?  Then like me the diagnosis of cancer can hold no fears,  If you can live with that Cancer is nothing

~  afterall   what can be worse that being a Spurs Supporter  ?   Other than being a Toffee ?   Don't fancy your teams  chances to day  - but mine even less on Monday..

My Current  thoughts for life  - when you wake up realised you have survived the rigours and terrors of the night and smile all day.   Tomorrow repeat.
