Chemotherapy

Hi. I'm Jacqueline. I have had breast cancer and given the all clear in that my tumour has gone. But just had news after waiting for more results on preventitive treatment and found out I have to have Chemo. I am feeling scared and in shock, with millions of thoughts going round in my head. Trying to stay positive, but it's hard.

  • Hi Jacqueline,

I am so sorry to hear you have found out you will have to have chemotherapy. It's normal to feel scared and a bit in shock especially after having been given the all clear that your tumour was gone which was wonderful news.

You may have lot of questions or thoughts racing through your head at the moment. Have you found out more about the chemotherapy you will be having and when you might be able to start treatment? If you want to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, feel free to get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar place before and been told they needed further chemotherapy treatment shortly after having been given the all clear. It helps sometimes to talk to others who have had the same experience.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jacqueline,  I am sorry to hear that you need to have chemotherapy.  Why do you have to have chemo if the tumour has gone, did they say?  I had lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy and then tamoxifen.  When are you starting treatment?  There is a thread on the Macmillan forum for breast cancer and it is very supportive and we are all in the same boat , one way or another.  Sending you big hugs.
