New to site - diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer last year. Looking to chat to others in a similar position

Morning all. New to this site and not sure what I’m looking for. I have Stage IV Kidney cancer (diagnosed March 2024) and currently on an immunotherapy course of treatment . In addition I have Addisons Disease, Thyroid problems, and pains in my feet, legs, hands, shoulder and neck. I’m not whinging I promise as there are others far worse off than me, and I’m lucky to have a very supportive wife and children, but would like to chat to others in a similar position as sometimes I do feel sorry for myself and that’s wrong.

  • Hi Steve.  you are right this forum is a good place to dump negative feelings.  Family and friends want us to be positive and upbeat and that is impossible all the time.  If you go on the Macmillan website there is a forum called Living with Incurable cancer forum - patients only.  I find this very good for ranting, chatting whatever you feel like as everyone on there understands.  I don't have any children but have a supportive husband so am really lucky but don't like telling him when I feel bad so I do it on here. Like Ed says new treatments and trials give me hope.

  • Afternoon Lee - thanks for your thoughts. I will probably give the MacMillan site a try but to be honest I do struggle to talk about things - it took over a year of treatment for me to let my mother know I had cancer and indeed it’s only in the past month or so Ive pushed myself to talk to other friends and family. Hope you keep well and again thanks for your reply.
