Hi, I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and am waiting to start radio therapy. Can anyone help me with some advice?
Hi Rocky514,
A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I am so sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and I hope that you won't have to wait too long for the start of your radiotherapy treatment. There is useful information on our website on radiotherapy for prostate cancer and if there is anything you wanted to find out more about, our nurse helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm on this free number 0808 800 4040 so don't hesitate to give our cancer nurses a call at any point and ask them for advice on anything you are concerned about.
I hope that you will hear from members of our community who have had a prostate cancer diagnosis and who had radiotherapy - one example I found from recent months was GilesB 's thread on radiotherapy for prostate cancer. This member mentioned having their first radiotherapy treatment at the time and was going to have 4 more sessions so hopefully by now they will have had quite a bit of experience of going through radiotherapy for prostate cancer and I hope that they will be along to share their experience with you. It is important to remember though that we all react differently to treatment but it's always interesting to hear from other people's experiences.
Wishing you the best of luck for your first radiotherapy session. Do you have a date already as to when you might be starting treatment?
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
