Judic - living with metastatic breast cancer and due to start capecitabine tonight. Does anyone have any experience with this chemo? Stressed about side effects

I'm 72 years old and diagnosed with denova metatastic breast cancer which had spread throughout my spine ribs and sternum in Jan 2023. After 4 previous forms of treatment it has spread to my liver with APL Levels very high. I start CAPECITABINE tonight.

Has anyone any experience of this chemo drug please? I'm now very stressed about experiencing side effects which mean I need to be started on 50% strength of the drug.

Hi Judi, I am really sorry to hear about the spread to your liver. I am sorry but not on capecitabine as I am one of the people who has the gene that his drug cannot be used. I am on first line treatment of Ribociclib, Exemastane and denosumab as have extensive bone mets. I just wanted to say I hope it went okay last night and you are not experiencing too many side effects today. Sending you hugs and hope someone can share their experience of the drug with you.

Hi Judi, just a thought have you been on the Macmillan forum for breast cancer because I have seen a number of ladies on there that are on capecitabine and can perhaps share their experience with you.
