Overwhelmed - I have found out I have stage 4 lung cancer that's spread to my brain and adrenal glands. I had no symptoms apart from loss of control in hand

Was slowly losing fine control in right hand over 3 weeks. Phoned doctor, saw seen same day (Monday) Was sent to acute TIA clinic on Wednesday. Head CT done and they found two tumours. Kept in over night for more tests. Went home. The following week had more X-rays, CT, biopsies and other tests done. Waiting for full results and plans, but do know I have stage 4 lung cancer spread to brain and adrenal glands,  With NO symptoms apart from hand control that has improved with steroids. To say life has changed is an understatement..

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Ysta.

I'm sorry to read about your diagnosis. To find out you have stage 4 lung cancer, especially when you’d had hardly any symptoms apart from the changes in your hand, must have come as a real shock.

It sounds like things moved very quickly once you spoke to your doctor, and you’ve already been through so much in such a short time - scans, biopsies, tests and now the difficult wait for more results. I hope the steroids continue to help while your team works on a treatment plan.

If and when you feel ready, you might find helpful to read this information about lung cancer we have from our website.

Also, just to let you know, our lovely team nurses is available if you'd find it helpful to speak to someone directly. They’re there to listen, answer questions, or simply talk things through and you can reach them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

You're not alone in this, Ysta, we're all here whenever you need to talk or just share how you’re feeling.

    With warmest wishes,
