Colorectal cancer

I was diagnosed with colon cancer about 6 weeks ago. Since then, I've had two CT scans, three MTRI scans, and thankfully the cancer has not spread. Initially, I was told I needed a temporary colonoscopy, which would later be reversed. However I was informed yesterday the malignant polyp was too low in the colon and the colostomy would be permanent. This has come as a real shock. I fell I could cope with the cancer (it didn't really scare me) But the tough of living with a permanent colostomy is something I am finding it difficult to come to terms with.
