Hi, really suffering with anxiety whilst undergoing tests for a nodule on my lung. Can someone please help me put my mind at rest?

Hi, my name is Sandra and I’m currently undergoing tests on a 2cm lung nodule.  I have a PET scan tomorrow and lung biopsy on Friday.  I have previously been told by my gp that the nodule is smooth so isn’t likely to be cancer so why am I having all these other tests.

i suffer really badly with anxiety and take citalopram but its fully out of control at the moment.  I’m hoping someone may be able to put my mind at rest.  Thank you

  • Hi Miss

Go with the experience of your GP that the smooth nodule is benign. The scans and biopsy are just to make sure and is standard procedure for everyone. It is not easy waiting for the results but can give reassurance when they come. My recent scan results took 4 weeks so it is a long anxious wait. Mine showed cancer to be stable so Im massively relieved. Im hoping yours is even better news.

  • Thank you Ed, that’s some positive news I needed.

  • Hi Ed I am glad cancer is stable, I know you were worried about the latest scan.  How are the bones doing?  Good luck with your scan and biopsy Miss anxiety.  Sending you both hugs x

  • Hi Lee

I hope life is going ok for you and that your back support is giving you some relief and protecting your spine also that you are getting out with your dogs. The latest scan took a month for the report to arrive. No new areas of cancer and the immunotherapy and denosumab are keeping the existing areas at bay. Back pain is getting a bit worse though. But all in all life is good and like you looking forward to a holiday in September all being well.
