Teddy - stage 4 prostate cancer has spread to my bones. What can I take to relieve the pain?

I have prostrate cancer stage 4 with a gleason score of 4+5.

The cancer has spread to my  bones and is very painful.

What can I take to relieve the pain.

Thanks

  • Hi Teddy.  Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  i have stage 4 cancer and in most of my bones.  I am surprised that the oncologist has not prescribed anything for you.  Mine prescribed tramadol first and then morphine tablet and liquid form.  Maybe you should get hold of him tomorrow and tell him about your pain.  Hope you get some relief soon.

  • Thank you Lee, unfortunately my  oncologist would rather direct me to my GP for assistance. I have found that the gap between oncologist in different areas is shocking.

    Thanks again Tedd13

  • Hi Teddy that really is shocking maybe you should ask to change oncologist.  They are supposed to treat you as a whole and look at all aspects of your life.  I guess I am lucky as my oncologist is great.  Are you going to contact your GP tomorrow.  Apparently if you phone the NHS number 111 you can speak to a pharmacist or doctor , not sure and they can give you a prescription if you cant wait until tomorrow.  I really hope you get more support than what you have received.
