Liver surveillance for liver Cancer

Hi I was told 4 years ago I had chirosis, I have had liver surveillance checks every 6 months, I had an ultrasound 6 weeks ago. ( On the Saturday ),Got a phone call (on the Monday) saying need  have blood tests and an MRI scan , I had these done 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything until today, I got a letter stating I have a gastroenterology telephone appointment in 6 weeks time, I don't know whether to see this as potential good or bad news xx

  • HiBingoBango888,  I was diagnosed with NAFLD 4 years ago with stage 4 Fibrosis (Cirrhosis) and have been having 6-monthly bloods and ultrasound scans. I had an appointment today with a consultant who told me that the past 2 ultrasound scans were 'concerning', and has ordered an MRI and more bloods. Sometimes they send you to exclude a possible diagnosis. Try not to worry too much. I know exactly how you are feeling. Try and take your mind off it. I know it is hard, I am sure your GP would tell you your blood results, which would give you some information, as I know that helps immensely. Good luck with your results, and I hope for a positive outcome for you.
