Hello Alfmont
I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. It's understandable that this may be a difficult time for you both as he waits to start treatment. I hope that you have support from family and friends around you both.
We have a number of people on this thread who have been through treatment for different oral cancers, such as throat, tongue and tonsil. It's worth reading through some of the shared experiences there and perhaps replying to introduce yourself. Hopefully, you will be able to connect with others who can share their tips and advice for coping with treatment and offer you both some reassurance.
If it would help to talk with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).
Keep in touch Alfmont and let us know how things go. We're here for you.
Best wishes,
Jenn

Hi Alfmont. My husband has LIVED with terminal cancer for eight years so far! His is lung cancer and he was given six months to live all those years ago. Chemo, radio and immuno therapies kept him going until now, and miracle drugs keep on coming every year or so. Now his own miracle drug has finally stopped working and there is nothing else right now, so his tumours are growing fast and we are having a last shot at radiotherapy. I don't know about tongue cancer at all, but I imagine it would be quickly life changing/disruptive to normal life, possibly painful, and psychologically difficult, but do hold on to that hope for medical advances that may very well be there for him or round the corner. Caring wishes to you.
Hi there.. no personal experience but a close friend was diagnosed with tongue cancer almost 3 years ago, he was late 70's at the time. He had chemo, surgery and radiotherapy and was given the all clear ..now 81 and just had his latest check up, to be reviewed in 6 months...
