BRAF mutation with colorectal cancer - has anyone else had this?

Hi. 

Has anyone been been advised they have the BRAF mutation with colorectal cancer. I've got bowel cancer alongside liver metastasis. Not a lot of info out there. Looking to chat with someone of similar experience. Avoiding googled obviously as so scary and my oncologist just told me it makes the cancer more aggressive.

    I've just replied to your post about chemotherapy but noticed this one hasn't had a reply either, so I wanted to reassure you that this post has been seen and hopefully some of our members who have had the same diagnosis or a similar experience to yourself will be along soon to share their stories and advice.

    In the meantime, try to stay away from google if you can as the information given on there is very generalised and won't necessarily apply to your individual situation. Much easier said than done I know, but it will only make your fears and worries worse. As mentioned in my reply on your other post, if you do have any further questions, you can give our team of cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040.

    Thanks so much. I start my new course of treatment on Friday, which is targeted for BRAF and includes immunotherapy treatment so here's to a successful outcome.  I most Certainly do stay away from google... too scary

    It’s good to speak to someone in a similar position, it’s all very scary, especially google, which we all sometimes do.

    My partner also has just found out he has the BRAF mutation with his bowel cancer. We’ve been told the same that it makes the cancer mutate and grow faster, which is scary, He has got lung metastasis also, so far he has been given a higher dose of his chemotherapy drug to try and stay ahead of the cancer and we are hoping that this will improve, but we won’t know until he has a scan to see if things have improved or not he has had two rounds of chemo so far, and was diagnosed in February this year, he has an appointment with his oncologist beginning of may so we are hoping to find out more then.

    Good luck. I'm just starting mine, it is really scary when they first tell you. I'm getting additional antibody treatment and then immunotherapy in pill form on top of my chemotherapy,  the antibody attacks the BRAF and the immunotherapy helps the immunothe system,  it might be worth discussing this with hour oncologist as I believe they are available on the NHS.
