Advanced prostate cancer. Chemo or radium 233

Enzalutomide has stopped worķing and I am seeking advice on whether to switch to chemo or radium 233 or to do nothi ng.  My main aim is to minimise discomfort rather than to extend my life.  The cancer has spread to my spine.  It is not in my lymph nodes. I am hoping that radium 233 will minimise bone pain.

In fact my main discomfort at the moment is constipation and none of the laxatives I use sre very effective.  I am also lacking in energy and can only walk aut a mile, whereas a year ago I would regularly walk 6 or 7 miles

  • Welcome to the forum Dnxn although I'm sorry to hear the enzalutamide has stopped working for you.

You can find out more about the treatment options you've mentioned on our website but hopefully some of our members with advanced prostate cancer will share their thoughts and advice.

We also have a team of cancer nurses you can discuss this with on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5pm and they will do all they can to answer your questions and help you figure out the best option for you.

If you haven't done so already, do try and talk things through with your medical team as well as they will ultimately be in the best position to advise.

I hope this helps and you're able to come a decision soon.

    Kind regards,
