I rejected chemotherapy

I have stage 2 hormone positive cancer, had mastectomy and radiation and on letrozole now, but rejected chemotherapy which was a hard decision. I wonder if there are any survivors here who also rejected chemotherapy and what are the things you have been doing to keep healthy

  • Hi Vika1212,

I had hormone positive BC and I’m also now on Letrozole among other things. Although I did do chemotherapy as well as Radiation,  I coped really well with both which I believe was down to my diet so I thought it might interest  you. I  did a complete diet overhaul. I now make sure I drink plenty of a water throughout the day (2-3litree) I have homemade juices daily which contain fruit and veg high in vitamin C for my immune system, vitamin K for my bones . I eat more oily fish, nuts, berries . I’ve ditched processed bread for fresh (normally sourdough as it has more health benefits) I make all my snacks instead of buying them (Dark chocolate or cacao) . I did drink decaf before but I now only have one & the rest of the day I have green tea and matcha tea. I’m back at work now so I have to be more organised but I’ve found the changes much easier than I expected.  Obviously like everything it’s personal preference but my rule of thumb has been to try & eat more fresh things and less processed. I also found a good app on the breast cancer now page , which you can scan items to see if they contain harmful ingredients. Wishing you well on your journey and I hope this helped a little.

  • Thank you for sharing the tips, very useful, i am gonna try it and the app is awesome idea. I am going to try and find it

  • Oh I’m glad you found them useful. I’ve just looked. The app is called Yuka. It should be on your App Store. Its icon is a carrot ! If you have access to Instagram they have some great recipe idea on there. Or sometimes I just google vegetarian recipes than add whichever meat or fish I want to it

  • Yes, just found,la and installed. God give us cancer free journey in life

  • I find the app so helpful & I quite enjoying going around the shops scanning things ha ha. I love the fact it gives you alternatives. I do ignore sometimes if I really want something but it’s definitely helped me stay on a more healthy path! Aww yes I hope so ! Good luck with the everything

  • Haha, I will have fun too now. I am sure it's also entertaining!
