  • Good morning  Chris,

i am attending my hospital tomorrow for a cystscopy. Blood in urine for a few weeks visible and non.. so now the doctor has referred me .. this also happened at new year but when no infection was found dr took no further action.. but was seen by gynaecologists for endometrial biopsy, renal ct scan and tvs ultrasound all came back clear. That was different symptoms.. so worried about tomorrow..

  • Good morning,

Sorry to hear that you have a blood in your urine, you have a right to be nervous, I still get nervous every time I go to have one and I have well over 30 cystoscopy now.

I am making the assumption you are going for a flexi-cystoscopy and not a rigid one, as rigid ones are done under general anesthetic So the procedure itself takes about 5 minutes, they will ask you to get naked from the waste down and you wear a gown, they then give you some local anesthetic to numb your urethra and then insert the camera to see what is going on, if they see anything they will take photos, but they should tell you if they do or don't find anything. They also normally have a screen for you to see your bladder which I still find fascinating.

You probably will experience burning when you pee after the procedure.

I would expect the renal CT scan to have covered your bladder as well, so take some reassurance from that.

I know you are worried and it is really normal to feel that way, and I really can't say anything to stop you worrying, but please let me know how it goes tomorrow, I always happy to talk to you about my experiences if necessary.
