Endometrial cancer

I was recently diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Have had an operation and am now waiting to start Radiotherapy. The waiting is hard and stressful.Wish everyone going through this luck Hope the treatments work.

  • Hi Babs1,

I am so sorry to hear about your recent endometrial cancer diagnosis. I hope that you are recovering well from the operation and that you won't have to wait too long to start your radiotherapy. As you say, waiting is by no means easy and we have information on radiotherapy for womb cancer you might want to read before the operation. I hope that treatment will be a success and if you have any questions on radiotherapy or on your diagnosis, don't hesitate to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I also wanted you to know you are not alone and there are other members of our forum who have had a similar diagnosis in the past and who are currently going through endometrial cancer treatment.  for example posted this endometrial cancer thread and was diagnosed with endometrial cancer a few months ago and just a few days ago  posted this thread following their recent endometrial cancer diagnosis.

Hopefully this forum will allow you to connect with others who have had a similar diagnosis and who may also have had radiotherapy treatment for endometrial cancer.

Wishing you the best of luck for your treatment. I hope the wait is nearly over and that you can start radiotherapy soon!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Babs1, how are you getting on? I am just finishing my chemo treatment and about to start radiotherapy. How did you find it as I'm a bit worried about the side effects.

  • Hi Babs1,

My name is Angela and I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage 2 in March. I'm now waiting for dates for my pre op and surgery which they have told me is going to be robotic keyhole full hysterectomy.

Is this the surgery you had, and how have you been since.

I'm worried more about how I'm going to be post op, I'm a very independent person, and I was wondering how much I might be inpacted by the surgery.

I have the full support of my loving husband and friends and family around me,  but hate asking for help, it's usually the other way round,  I'm the one helping others.

Any help would be much appreciated thank you so much xx

    Regards, Angela.

The radio therapy wasn't to bad. The only real side effects were that I got tired doing things and had to take things at slower pace. The hardest part was waiting for my review after the treatment had finished it seemed like ages. Hope all goes well for you keep positive not always easy I know . Let others help you you will need them especially when you think you don't.

Hi Angela. I finished radio therapy in March. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.. Mainly I felt really tired .If you have a supportive family allow them to help. You may need to rest more. The hardest part for me was waiting for my review. To find out if it had done the job which luckily it had. Good luck and hope all goes well for you. Tell your family how you are feeling it helps a lot.
