Help! Worried why Im having an X Ray and MRI after endometrial cancer diagnosis

When a CT scan for appendicitis showed an abnormality on one of my ovaries i was sent for a vaginal ultrasound. This showed thickened endometrium which resulted in a copolscopy then hysteroscopy. Received results yesterday: grade 2 cancerous cells of endometrium. I was told that theres no need for another CT scan but would need an MRI. My partner spoke to the nurse today and was told I will have an MRI on my pelvis and abdomen and an x ray on my chest. Any reason why I'm not just having an MRI on my chest abdomen and pelvis. Why x-ray the chest?

  • I'm glad you've finally got your results IplayGeetar, although I'm sorry to hear they showed endometrial cancer

If you would like to talk any of this through with someone, do give our cancer nurses a call. I think I've given you their number before but if you've forgotten it, it's 0808 800 4040. The helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and our nurses will do all they can to answer your questions, including the one you've mentioned above, and put your mind at ease about what's to come.

So many of our members know what it's like to receive a cancer diagnosis, so you are not alone IplayGeetar, and hopefully it won't be long until you receive some support and advice.
