Recently Diagnosed Stage 3 High Grade Ovarian Cancer

Hello everyone I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 3 high grade ovarian cancer.
I had my operation in December and the tumour has been removed, however, it had spread prior to the operation, and I will be having chemo shortly.
I am a very positive person, but have been told that the two chemo medications Carboplatin and Paciltaxel I will be having are very invasive, and I am scared of what will come.
Has anyone got experience of these medications please?

  • Hello Caz93 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

It's natural to feel scared when preparing for treatment, but your medical team will be there for you at every step and may be able to adjust the treatment depending on how you're coping. Do raise any questions or concerns with them and I hope Cancer Chat members on similar treatment can reach out also. We have information on our website around Carboplatin and Paclitaxel; how they work and the possible side effects to look out for. You can refer to these and pages on ovarian cancer at any time. If you'd like to speak to our cancer nurses about this or any other part of your treatment, you can call them for free on 0808 800 4040. Lines are open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

I hope this helps you feel more prepared and I wish you all the best,
