Lung cancer

Hi have just been informed I have lung cancer on left side .it's about 24mm .got to see if I am fit for surgery. As I have other health issues. Am scared and fill alone.even though I have a big family round me. Everyone wants to make a fuss and I don't want that at this moment. But I don't want to upset them

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling scared by this news and the prospect of what may happen next.

Have the team said what tests they want to do to see if you are able to have surgery? Hopefully, it won't take too long and the team will then be able to give you some answers and reassurance.

It's good to hear that you have the support of family around you. It's understandable that they want to make a fuss to show their support but it's also perfectly normal that you don't feel you want, or need, that at the moment. Don't be afraid to tell them that you appreciate their love and support and perhaps there are other ways that they can be more helpful to you at the moment.

If there's anything you'd like to talk through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can while you're waiting for news.

Do keep in touch Hoody1263 and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
