Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this site. I have had secondary breast cancer in my bones (mainly pelvis and lower spine) for two years.I am looking forward to sharing with you all and reading the wealth of information on this site.

  • Welcome Judy

Although we all have different diagnosis we all share one thing in common.

The forum can be a bit slow, there are many more lurkers than contributors. However if you search through past threads you will find lots of valuable first hand experiences of almost any cancer related questions you might have. The nurses are fantastic and their replies are quite quick. The forum is safe and well moderated against cranks and malign commercial interests.

    Best wishes

  • Welcome Judy,  my diagnosis seems the same as yours, secondary breast cancer with mets in pelvis, lower spine and ribs.  I have only just been diagnosed and started treatment.  May I ask what treatment you are on and how have you coped with the side effects.xx

  • Hello Lee,

Yes, your diagnosis sounds very much like mine. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and had radiotherapy treatment on my lower back. After that I was prescribed Abemaciclib and Letrazole to control the cancer. When I started the meds I had adverse reactions in that I couldn't keep anything down and had diarrhoea. So my consultant took me off the abemaciclib for 2 weeks to give my body a rest and then put me back on it on a lower dose and I was fine. I think the radiotherapy also upset my insides, so that didn't help the situation. But once it all settled I didn't have any major problems. I had to take regular senna to avoid constipation but even that has settled down and I don't take it any more. The abemaciclib and letrazole are still keeping the cancer at bay.

    Hope that's helpful.

  • Hi Judy,  Yes your information is very helpful thank you.  I am on ribociclib which I presume is similar to abemaciclib and exemestane as I had breast cancer twelve years ago and was on letrazole but this didnt agree with me.  I also have four weekly injections of denosumab.   You have also given me hope as you have been on these for two years and still keeping the cancer at bay.  This is certainly no journey any of us want to be on but just have to deal with it.  I wish you well and hopefully we  can chat.  I am 59 years old.

  • Interesting to hear about your meds. I had breast cancer 13 years ago and am also receiving denosumab injections every 4 weeks. I am happy to chat and I am 63 years old.
