Hi Will.G, and welcome, I am not an expert, I have heard of a few guys getting muscle/bone pain in the general area targeted by radiotherapy, but not shoulders and arms, for pain in the lower abdomen, they suggest light stretching and exercise, but I would talk to my radiographers or GP, I wish you every success with your treatment.

Hi Will,
Are you on hormone therapy too? I am waiting for radiotherapy, and have been on hormone therapy for 6 months. Side effects do include joint / bone / muscle aches and pains, sometimes enough to prevent sleep. Have found religiously sticking to an exercise regime of resistance exercises (and funnily enough impact exercises like jumping jacks) helps to beat it. HT can cause muscle loss and osteoporosis, and exercise is recommended to help combat it.
That said, I have yet to experience radiotherapy, so you may know more than me. My wife does, ha ha..
Hi whiskers,I finished my radio therapy about a month ago.I found after the second week my bowel had a mind of its own.By the end of the fourth week it felt like a Roman candle was alight when I passed a motion. It does get better after a week .You may well find it might not happen to you so the best of luck there. The therapy is a walk in the park.Sometimes you have to wait a while but apart from that it’s easy& the team in radiology are excellent & very caring . Best of luck
