  • I understand completely - having heard that a wle was clear, i was told on Thursday that my scan showed I am already stage 4 with tumours in 3 organs and 6 months prognosis without treatment.  Another appointment tomorrowto discuss.  I am still a bit in disbelief.

  • Hi Montybigman,

I'm sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with melanoma. You will be in shock for a while but you have come to the right place. What Stage have they said you are or what depth was the melanoma? If it's been caught quickly there is a very good chance you will receive successful treatment. Once you know more from the consultant you will be better placed to understand & research melanoma & hopefully help settle your worries about the future.

    Hi meler,

I'm so very sorry you have just received this distressing news. Melanoma is a sneaky cancer and can spread without us knowing (I originally was Stage 1b in 1996 and 13 years later it returned, having taken it's time to spread to my lymph nodes).

Since then, treatment for melanoma has progressed with very promising results, so your clinical team seem to be moving quickly to get you onto a treatment plan which will have a good chance of working.

Good luck tomorrow and please let us know how you get on.

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)

Thank you for your concern, Angie.  Two immunotherapy drugs together has been agreed as the best way forward for me.  Saw a very compassionate and positive Dr and will start asap but Christmas gives a slight delay .

I'm glad they have a treatment plan in place and that you aren't waiting too long for it to start. Try and enjoy Christmas and I hope all goes well with your treatment.

Our intention is to have a joyous Christmas with our children and grandchildren and then tackle what has to be tackled as soon as possible afterwards.  I am in the line for any appointments that become unexpectedly available - so we are hopeful it will be sooner rather than later.  Meanwhile prayer is giving us strength: God is good.

Thank you for your supportive concern.

My partner is stage 4 but he's still here after 2 years on pembrolizumab only. If it had been on his organs as well as keeping reoccurring in his lymph nodes he might have taken the offer of two. I hope the treatment (as well as prayer) brings you much time.

Enjoy Christmas. It's important to live well x

  • Sorry you had this horrible diagnosis. I hope your future is brighter and longer than you might imagine it is just now.
