Newly diagnosed Glioblastoma

Hello everyone, as the title says literally confirmed today, I would appreciate any help or advice however small on anything I could or shouldn’t expect

regards Sean

  • Welcome to the forum Sean although I'm sorry to hear you were diagnosed with a glioblastoma the other day.

You can find out more about glioblastomas on our website but hopefully some of our members who have been in this position will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

If you'd like to discuss anything further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to support you and answer any other questions you may have at this time.

We're thinking of you Sean and wishing you all the best on this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi! I have recently been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma- Stage 4.  It's the aggressive Cancer type, so I know it can't be cured.  The tumour was sat in the right frontal lobe of my brain.  It was removed by operation a short time ago.  I have let any extra tissue that remained be used for research.  I know that I will be starting Radiotherapy, and Chemotherapy tablets in a couple of weeks.  The thing I have noticed the most is my energy levels aren't great.  They fluctuate every day, so have to stick to new limitations on what I can do.  You might find yourself feeling more exhausted more quickly.  I also seem to be more thirsty at the moment, so have to try and stay well hydrated.  I think now that the key is to cope with any side effects I might have, or get when treatment starts.  Am already under a Community nurse, who also helps with Palliative care team in my area.  I am taking each day as it comes.  I am thinking about how to make the most of the rest of my time, however limited it possibly could be.
