Hi Mopper, and welcome, though sorry to hear you have prostate cancer, Can I ask what are you worried about post Op, and why the need for a prostatectomy over other treatments.
Eddie
Hi Eddie, sorry for delay, i have been away from home, i am worries about my water works and of course erection, i dont like the sound of the radiotherapy, but seeing the oncologist and surgeon on Monday, so i will get a bit more clarity.
Thanks
Jonathan
Hi Jonathan, no problem, it's good to get away, It's a huge decision whether to go with surgery or RT/HT, If you decide on surgery, a few questions you should ask, will it be robot assisted, or done by your surgeon, "there's not much between them other than bladder neck contracture is more likely with he surgeon", how experienced is your surgeon, what nerves will be spared "very important", especially the pudendal nerve which is the one that controls erections and are they 100% sure no cancer has escaped the prostate. Jonathan a surgeon will nearly always favour surgery, so listen to your oncologist as they are a little more neutral, and ask them about SABR, it is a radiotherapy RT treatment, just six sessions, a higher dose of radiation per session, but much less overall, results are as good as hyperfractionated RT over 20 sessions, but with much less impact. best wishes for Monday.
Eddie
Thanks Eddie, very informative and very much appreciated
Kind regards
Jonathan
My pleasure Jonathan, please let me know how things go on Monday.
