Prostate cancer

Hi can anybody give me and good ideas and advice on what I can eat during my 37 days radio therapy treatment for my prostate cancer , I’ve been told a few things what I should avoid but Nothing on what I should really be eating especially with Christmas coming up thanks kidda

  • Hi Kidda, good to hear from you again, most people tend to eat a normal healthy diet ,try if you can to get your appointments close to the same time every day,, I avoided broccoli and kale, as when they break down in the gut they produce a lot of gas, and I ate 2 slightly green bananas daily as they reduce gas in the gut, PS, too much gas and your scan will be stopped If your peeing ok  maybe a little treat now and then should be ok, but if you have issues cut out alcohol, fizzy drinks and caffeine, you will be asked to drink 3 cups of water 30 minutes, and will need to hold it for 45 mins, if this isn't a problem, that's great, but if it is, you should practice holding it in.

  • I completed 20 sessions mid October last year. I struggled half way through having pain trying to pee, did mention it the radiographers, got given tamsulosin which help loads. Bad time for me was about 3 weeks after treatment finished, went into urine retention! Hopefully you won’t have that, all the best.
