I am sorry to hear you are going through this .  My diagnosis is the same, but I have 6cm at the bottom of my breast and a 1.5cm under my nipple.  I am having surgery on saturday.  I haven't been prescribed any medication since diagnosis though.  X

Saralou123.  Thank you.  I will keep you posted.  I am having 2 surgeons one for cancer side and one for reconstruction side.  They cannot save my nipples as too much  risk as I have diabetes, so keeping the scar tissue to a minimum.  Because I have larger breast ( first time I feel this is a positive) they hope to save some breast to make 2 small boobs.  Also taking 3 lymph nodes, but did say they looked ok.   I was told I will have radiotherapy afterwards and maybe chemo, but they don't know yet.  I am really nervous about the recovery.  It will definitely help having someone to message thats going through the same x

Well it's all done.  I am feeling ok.  A bit sore, but expected.  They took all lower nodes as cancer was seen on pet scan.  That is the side that hurts more.  Dressing off in 10 days and seeing surgeon in a few weeks for results.   How are you feeling ? Xx

Hey so good to hear from you and that surgery went well. As expected soreness but you can rest now to recover. Make sure you do the arm excises  as this will help lower risk of the lymphoedema that’s told me xx I’ve started doing them now pre op hopefully it will help too 

hopefully you have some pain relief too help you. Keep positive and rest up lovely

im feeling very tired and exhausted from the tamoxifen but other than that i am carrying on the day job keeping busy right up to op

Definitely will help you doing the arm exercises.  I am doing them even if I need to take painkillers beforehand.  Make sure you take time to rest if you are exhausted.  Try and do some deep breathing too as this helps and is good postoperative .

I'm glad to see that you have both hooked up, to get through this journey together. It's also good to know that you have had your surgery Jovie and that you are doing well. 

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy first time around and 6 lymph nodes removed. Fortunately, all nodes were clear, but this area remained tender for several months. The lumpectomy site was fine. A year after my initial surgery, I discovered another cancer in the same breast and had a double mastectomy. I had very little bother with these, once the drains were removed. The only problem was, that I was not a suitable candidate for reconstruction, so have had to remain flat. I have managed to cope with this fairly well and use an assortment of prostheses for different activities. This all happened 14 years ago and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life - I'm sure that both of you will too.

Thank you both for your lovely replies. It is well worth sticking with the forum. You will find that people here are happy to share their experiences all along their cancer pathway. They are also happy to give you any useful tips that they can. We can all feel very isolated, angry and emotional at this stage and it is helpful to see that we are not alone in this.

i am getting anxious now as pre op this Friday ..it’s says 2 hours so not sure what’s involved at this appointment?

feeling nervous for op date next Friday but relieved it’s nearly here in a strange way

My minds been going crazy with worry of spread and will they tell me when I come out of surgery ♀️

Pre op is weigh, height, bloods, all information on you , like previous ops, medication etc.  I was given a sponge to wash with on morning of op before going to hospital.  

Just a information letter saying what time you can eat and drink till.

It may not be 2 hours, I think they just say allow that much time.  

They won't give any details of surgery as you will get results in around 2 weeks .  The surgeon will come and see you just to let you know how surgery went.  

I know it's really easy for me to say, but keep going with your deep breathing now to keep yourself relaxed.   

Set your little area ready for when you are home.  If you have a fan, maybe put at side of bed as you may feel hot .  Keep items within reach. Make sure you have tissues, lipbalm etc. 

You will be looked after.  You are in our thoughts and prayers
