JoJo - lump removed earlier this year but now having shooting pains in my breast. Should I be worried?

I had a lump removed in May this year and then Radiotherapy. I am experiencing shooting pains in the breast and tenderness all the time, with a niggly pain in my arm pit . should i be worried.

Thank you

  • I have exactly the same symptoms after a lumpectomy in May followed by radiotherapy. There is a good explanation on the forum of Breast Cancer Now in reply to a post "ongoing pain after breast surgery, lymphnode removal or radiotherapy". I also have pain around the scar where all the lymph nodes were removed. I hope this article will put your mind at rest.

  • HI I had my surgery in May and Radiotherapy in June. Sharp shooting pain is one thing but sometimes the pain is debilitating. I am going for a bra fitting on Sunday and see  if that helps the issue. I check myself every morning ( as I found the lump last time) and cant find anything too worrying. . I will check  in with my Cancer nurse , to confirm this  is to be expected 5 months on. Thank you so much for the information. Take care and look after yourself x Kind regards JoJo
