I recently learned that a lesion that I have had on my back for 5 years wasn't eczema as my dermatologist said, but actually squamous cell carcinoma. When I first went to see a dermatologist she said it was eczema. Over the past year it's grown in size and itches and hurts to touch it.

I believe it's about the size of a quarter; is extremely itchy and scaly. 

I see the General surgeon tomorrow , but I am a bit concerned that I have had it so long - too long. I try not to worry as squamous rarely becomes a problem from what I've read.

Any thoughts on my situation? Thanks,.
