Hi Quo,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am so sorry to hear that you have just been told that you have breast cancer. Do you know what type of breast cancer you have, or what stage it is? Receiving a cancer diagnosis always comes as a shock. It opens up so many unknowns and gives reign to out overactive imaginations. It takes some time to get to the stage where we know exactly what treatment will lie ahead, but it does become easier to deal with, once you know what you have to face.
Treatments for breast cancer have come a long way in recent years and more people are now living with it. I myself, have had 2 bouts, within a year of each other. That was 14 years ago now and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life - here's hoping that you will too.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx

Ah that's good. Have they agreed ? I was under team for breast reduction before my screening and diagnosis but my trust won't combine the two ! At least you won't have to have two surgeries now. Good luck with everything xx
oh no, that means i prob wont get it either, the cancer nurse said she will put it in the letter but she didnt think they would. This diagnosis has forced me to open up about my anxiety, how are you coping?
Not necessarily different trusts have different funding etc. I'm ok. I have had wobbles. Initially shock as it was a call back from routine screening. Still wouldn't have known day I had surgery . Consultant couldn't feel it either so I suppose screening was a blessing ! I had some tears and worries of what will happen . I managed to keep my self busy with work and philosophy in life is no point worrying over what I can't change and what will be will be. I took advise from my medical team. Eat healthy but I'm quite healthy anyway . Ive continued with my exercise and gym. For me it's good for mental health and frame of mind and very generally I've stayed positive .I feel if I didn't it would very easy for my mind to runaway with me and I would probably make myself poorly . So I've kept things as normal as possible. I've talked about it and organised a wear it pink day in work raising 400 pounds. That I feel allowed others to not feel uncomfortable around me. People tread a little on eggshells because they don't know what to say. Id just offer in support to you and say you do you !! If your anxious talk about it ,it can only be a good thing that your opening up to people .And it's ok to be scared and worried about the unknown . Sending hugs xxx keep talking xx
Thank you for that x i am a very anxious person but i am really trying to be strong x
i went to see my surgeon today and she is confident that she will get it all out, and she has agreed to a reduction, but she will only do one breast first to get rid of the cancer followed by radiotherapy. She has promised to do the other other breast at a later date though, so hopefully within a year...So, two surgeries for me..but better that than just a lumpectomy.
Hi soo pleased you have had positive news. I saw the consultant today. All mine has been removed ,originally told 22mm but today told it was actually 60mm which has taken a fair chunk ,so after radiotherapy and settled round about June time ,he has also agreed to a reduction now on both sides .
Good luck for your surgery . When do you have it done? Keep in touch xxx
Wow thats a big difference, but glad they got it out, and great that you will get your reduction too. I have my surgery early December so will prob get the radiotherapy in January. She will do the other to match after the breast has settled after that.
Hi Quo,
I am glad to hear that you saw your consultant today and that you now have a date for your surgery and treatment. The most important need is to get rid of the cancer. You can have the reduction after that, as you will then know the shape of your breast, post-surgery. It will be easier to match at that stage.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
