Confused 66 year old

5years ago I had small cell lung cancer and was treated with SABR LASER all went well then last year in October I had a scan after complaining about pain in my chest and back to be told in May this year that they couldn’t rule out that the cancer hadn’t returned as showed growths in lung but also stomach more scans followed and was offered SABR LASER again if the other consultants agreed but it was discovered there was something going on with my lymph nodes so they decided that I should have an EBUS procedure to take biopsies of some lymph nodes which came back inconclusive so yet another Pet Scan was had a fortnight ago and today I have been told that my bone marrow is affected and there are more growths around the lung but they will do another Pet Scan in January no mention of treatment my lung cancer nurse had rung me to give me this information bless her. I am screaming inside xx

    Hello Pumpkin-, 

    I can understand why you are feeling confused and feel like screaming inside after being told that your bone marrow is affected and there are more growths around the lung. I hope that you will find out more soon and that you can speak to your specialist and get all the facts you need and that they tell you whether there will be a treatment plan in place before your next pet scan in January. It's lovely that your lung cancer nurse rang you to give you this information but if you feel that something wasn't clear or that you don't know really what to expect, it might be worth ringing her back and telling her that you would like to talk to someone about your treatment options for example.

    Ive got you i know i want to scream everyday its not fair you think no one gets it you have no idea what the hell to think and most of all you hate every one you see because their ok.Its not fair im in the same frame of mind so everything you say hits home and one more person says "You have got this"Im gonna slap them WTF do they know sound about right?

    Thank you Lucie, I have an appointment coming up some time in November when my Oncologist is back from annual leave yesterday I got a call from the Respiratory department apparently they want to see me said that I should have been informed last week by my lung cancer nurse but she hadn’t mentioned that. So will see if they can help with my breathing issues. The top part of my left lung has collapsed as well and they say d that won’t improve. My head is just all over the place at the moment.
