I was diagnosed with colon cancer in April. I had an operation in May. The cancer was a bit more extensive than at first thought an it cannot be 100% guaranteed it won't come back. I am currently half way through preventative chemo therapy.

Hello Swankypants,
I hope you have recovered well from your operation in May. Well done for being half way through preventative chemotherapy - an important milestone, you're nearly there and I hope it's going well and that you are not suffering any side effects. It must be hard knowing that there is no 100% guarantee that the cancer won't come back but try if you can to put it at the back of your mind and even if the cancer was a bit more extensive than first thought, they will be using effective treatments which I hope will be a success.
You've come to the right place to meet others who have had a similar diagnosis and who are also going through treatment at the moment and I hope someone will be along shortly to share their colon cancer journey with you. I thought I would mention - and it's just one example amongst many - Jel 's colon cancer thread as this member was at the time looking to talk to others who were in a similar position, who had had surgery and chemotherapy treatment. I hope that you will get chatting here to others who've been through something similar and that they will come and share their story with you.
Should you have any questions or if you simply want to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, feel free to get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Best wishes and sending you positive vibes for the rest of your chemotherapy treatment,

Hello Swankypants,
just read your post and guessing that the chemo is kicking in hard, mentally l remember feeling a grim satisfaction at this in the sense that if it was giving me such a hard time, just imagine how my unwelcome guest was doing, betting that this was not in the original scheme of things.
100% always felt like a big ask, but l remember initially settling for the high nineties and working at it from there to make up the shortfall, ten years on it seems to have worked so far.
Stick with it, rather than stuck with it, and just keep moving forward, its amazing where you can end up by taking those small steps everyday,
David
