Hi everyone

Heres me, I'm 58 and live on Anglesey. I've had skin cancer, twice. Waiting on biopsy results, from last time they removed. Also have been diagnosed,  with cervical myelopathy and have hht. The cancer even though it was a shock,  never stopped me working. But for the past 12 months, have had leg and arm pains. Have been virtually bed ridden with the pain. I often find myself awake and alone at nights. My partner didn't like blood on her pillows. Am in the spare room. My prison with an artex sky. At the moment my partner, and I are not getting on. This is not the life she signed up for. Or me for that matter. But it is causing problems, I spend a lot of time alone. Isnt your brain the best torture device. Not eating that much at the moment. Reckon I'm below 50kg now. I feel I need to leave, but I don't know how.

  • Hello 54321 and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm really sorry to hear you've had skin cancer twice and are awaiting more biopsy results. This must be a very difficult time, especially with the addition of the pain you're experiencing which is keeping you bedbound, but I'm glad you've reached out to us as we have so many members who will understand and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by for a chat and to offer what support and advice they can.

I'm also very sorry to hear about the impact this has had on your relationship with your partner. I do hope this article I've found on Maggie's which offers help and advice on how to cope with the changes cancer can bring to a relationship will help somewhat, but if you really do feel you have got to a point where your relationship may no longer be working, try and talk to your partner about this before doing anything further. Again, this must be incredibly challenging and stressful for the both of you, but we are here for you 54321 and hopefully our members can offer some thoughts and advice on this as well.

If you'd like to talk any of this through with our team of cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. Our nurses are very easy to talk to and they will do all that they can to support you at this time.

Do keep posting if you find it helps 54321 and remember that you are not alone.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
