hi, my previous intro was not fully accurate. (I am still grappling with all the new terms). The appendiceal mucinous neoplasm is only part of the problem, this has leaked mucus into my peritoneum which has caused a cancer of the peritoneum. This is called pseudomyxoma peritonei, and it is this that is particularly rare. Apparently this cancer is not very aggressive and unlikely to spread via blood or lymphatic systems, and with surgical removal of the whole peritoneum ??? prognosis is reasonably good. It would be very nice to talk to someone who has had this surgery.
Cheers, Lee
