Lung cancer

Hey there,

I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017. I had 4 rounds of chemo, 22 patterns of radiotherapy and surgery to remove part of my bottom lobe in 2018.  I am now to date on a targeted therapy drug called osterinib.

its now been 5 years and I’ve been experiencing excruciating nerve pain.  I am currently on meds for it.  Is this normal after a lung operation.  My oncologist has carried out scans including a PET scan and they don’t know why im experiencing this pain.

Is there anyone out there that can relate?

Thanks

Sandra

  • Hello Sandra

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and the pain that you're now dealing with. It sounds like it's been a very difficult time for you.

Whilst it's good to hear that this pain has been investigated and no immediate concerns have been raised, this doesn't give you answers or set you on a path to improving the issue.

I know that we have previously had members post on the forum about pain that they have dealt with after surgery.  recently posted about her experience here and also in our Ask the Nurses topic area here. Hopefully you may find the nurse's reply to Sallymeg helpful and be able to connect with her to share your experiences.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of the nurse team you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope that you're able to get some support with managing this problem Sandra and that the team can improve things for you soon.

    Best wishes,
