Hi Typhoon69 and welcome, so sorry to hear about your dad, I also have terminal prostate cancer and was given PIP, I had never been on benefits so knew nothing, but a local organisation working with Macmillan helped me out. I would have been eligible for universal credit too but had too many savings. If you search www.maggies.org  if you have one local, they have a benefit advisor you can talk too, open 9am to 5pm weekdays just drop in, no appointment needed, as they are a cancer charity you may find that helpful as well, best wishes to you and your dad.
