Hi all my father has just been diagnosed with advanced prostrate cancer so the cancer is in all his upper body bones including the spine. He is an active 84 year old ex farmer but it’s a huge shock and I know it’s untreatable with regards to cure but can be slowed down so basically it’s terminal but I was wondering if anybody knows if I can claim anything for him in the way of benefits etc

Thanks

  • Hi Typhoon69 and welcome, so sorry to hear about your dad, I also have terminal prostate cancer and was given PIP, I had never been on benefits so knew nothing, but a local organisation working with Macmillan helped me out. I would have been eligible for universal credit too but had too many savings. If you search www.maggies.org  if you have one local, they have a benefit advisor you can talk too, open 9am to 5pm weekdays just drop in, no appointment needed, as they are a cancer charity you may find that helpful as well, best wishes to you and your dad.
