New to cancer forum

I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in June 2022, just 8 months after l retired aged 60yrs. It was quite a shock as the month before l was fit, active and very much enjoying life with lots of plans.
My world turned upside down and l had intensive chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant in January 2023. It was successful but unfortunately l relapsed in November 2023. The news of relapse l found harder to deal with than the initial diagnosis.

I am now under going immunotherapy. It’s working so far but l am not back in remission yet. Hospital visits are twice a week.  Staying positive and planning anything is very difficult. My medical team, friends and family have been fantastic. So I’m still here and well enough most of the time. I attended my sons wedding last week and l am looking forward to my daughters wedding next year. I couldn’t do it without them!

  • Hello Shaz7

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and all that you've been through over the past two years. It's obviously been a difficult time but it's really great to hear that you have such a supportive clinical team, friends, and family surrounding you.

I wanted to let you know that we have a few other members who have recently posted who have a diagnosis of multiple myeloma.  started this thread and has connected with other folks. You may find it helpful to read through and post to introduce yourself to some of the members there. Hopefully you will be able to support each other as you continue on your respective journies.

I hope that your treatment continues to bring good results and that things improve further for you.

    Best wishes,
