A very warm welcome to the forum Wribs although I'm sorry to hear your husband has recently been diagnosed with a glioblastoma.

Hopefully some of our members who have experience with this type of brain tumour will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but in the meantime, if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to support you and address any other worries or concerns you may have at this time.

I know this must be very scary Wribs, but our community are here for you and will do all they can to support you on this journey.

My husband is 73. He was diagnosed on March 11. He had surgery straight away with a 90%removal.  He made a very quick recovery.  8 weeks later he started radiotherapy and chemotherapy (in tablets) and had tolerated it well. Leeds opted for a 3 week course because of his age. He now has 4 weeks off all treatment and then back on chemotherapy alone. My husband is a doctor so he is well aware of what lies ahead. He has been given 20 months but tries to remain positive. He is very muddled in his thoughts with good days and not such  Lear headed daysWe are off on a 9 night cruise on Friday. His hair is now coming away, but it's a small price to pay. Please email me and talk if you want to.

We are halfway through the holiday. My husband is loving it..we are on Regent Seven Seas Navigator. I chose this cruise in part as it stays near big cities with good hospitals if we needed help. Due to the radiotherapy he can't sit in the sun, but there are always shady spots to be found.Alcohol is limited due to the chemotherapy too. He has a 4 week break and then back on Chemotherapy.  His hair has fallen out but only where the radiotherapy was done. No sickness,no tummy problems  at all. His hearing and eyesight has been slightly affected by the radiotherapy.  Keep strong as it is all we can do to help navigate through this nightmare.  How old is your Mum? Is she otherwise in good health? How much of her tumour did they manage to remove.  All these factors affect the outcome.
