Worried my pancreas, thorax and brain scans will show I have cancer. Do I tell my adult children?

My name is Elisabeth, I had a panreas, thorax and brain scan last week and I have no shadow of a doubt that I have cancer because I have lots of symptoms relating to these body parts. Every day I feel worse and if I say I feel over anxious that's an understatement. Do I tell my adult children every detail or keep some to myself? They know I am very worried

I can understand that you may be worried that you might have cancer or a serious illness but many other things can cause the same symptoms, so you shouldn’t jump ahead and start planning for the worst-case scenario. It’s fine to tell your family you are anxious about the tests you are having, but nobody has diagnosed you with cancer and until you have the results back there is absolutely no point in making the assumption that a cancer diagnosis is the only possible outcome.

There are some useful links in the reply that Moderator Anastasia made to your other post to help you cope while you are waiting for results and I would also add that it is probably best not to spend time on Cancer sites like this, as reading other people’s stories will only fuel your anxiety.

I hope you don’t have to wait too long to get the results back.

    Best wishes,
