Hi. I'm waiting for appt with surgeon with view to having same surgery as you. So I'm afraid I can't give you any answers but at least you know you're not alone in your situation. We must try and stay positive mustn't we?

I understand that you are worried and it's only natural. Surgery is a really stressful process to get through so my first words of encouragement would be to be as kind to yourself as possible. Not as easy as it sounds, I hear you think and it takes practice. I underwent an operation to remove quite a large tumour from my neck. It wad during Covid lock down so no visitors etc. I just remembered being nervous and more than a little scared. I realise looking back, that I was being looked after so well and the staff looking after uou Sian, will do all that they can to allay any fear that you are undergoing. 

It's 2 years this July since my op and I'm doing well. The scars are healing and I am so blessed to have had the procedure. I wasn't thinking that at the time but that's certainly my thought process now.

My work looked after me so well and were so supportive throughout. I'm sure that your workplace will do likewise. 

I wish you the very best and hopefully in a few years time you will be helping others with advice .

And so… I couldn’t find an appropriate thread so here I am again. I go in for my procedure tomorrow morning, I won’t be alone, my daughter will be coming with me but I’m worried although I’m not sure about what exactly. I’ve never been afraid of an op before but as has been pointed out, this is life changing and I don’t know what to expect for me personally. I mean I have a generalised idea but of course nobody can say more than that.

It is only natural to feel nervous before such a big operation. I have had a few major surgeries and was nervous before all of them. It's a challenge to get through them, but they make such a huge difference to our lives, that we are really very fortunate that they are available to us. Unfortunately, nobody can predict in advance how you will be after surgery. It will take some time to recover, but I sincerely hope that your operation goes well and that you experience a considerable improvement from how you feel at present.
