  • Hello Mans

I'm sorry to hear that your husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this week. Undoubtedly this will have been difficult news for you to hear.

It's good to know that this is an early-stage diagnosis and the fact your husband is a fit and active person will stand him in good stead for whatever treatment the Consultant recommends.

We have some information on our website about prostate cancer that you may find useful. Hopefully some of our members who have experience with this diagnosis will post to share their advice and experiences with you. You might also want to have a look at the website for Prostate Cancer UK.

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can.

Keep in touch Mans and let us know how you're both doing.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you, it's very scary at the moment but I'm pleased that there is support out there. My hubby is walking around making light of all this, and I'm feeling tearful is that normal? Thanx Mans

  • Hello Mans

There is no right nor wrong way to deal with this news. Many of the members here will understand how your husband is feeling and many will understand the fear and tears that you're experiencing.

My advice would be to try to stay positive. Having a positive approach to things certainly helps. Try not to look too far ahead as this can leave you feeling more anxious about things, instead take each day at a time. Keep busy and lean on those around you for support.

Hopefully, your husband won't have to wait too long for his next appointment and the team will be able to give you both some reassurance about the next recommended steps in his treatment.

You're not alone Mans. Keep in touch and we'll do our best to support you.

    Best wishes,
