Saying Hi!

I’m 71. Got my diagnosis at the end of November. Am realistic about my prognosis, and keen to do as much as possible with what time I have left. Total shock! Terminal oesophageal cancer with lung metastasis. Thought I was very fit and healthy but with recurrent hiccups!

Half way through my 6 cycle of palliative chemo, backed up by immunotherapy. Excellent, first-rate treatment at Kettering

Haven’t connected with anyone else with this - anybody out there fancy a chat sometime? I’m positive and optimistic and blessed with a wonderful support network of family and friends, but really this is a Club that I don’t want to belong to! Keen to offer support and offer honest responses !

Anyone else out there with a similar diagnosis? At the moment, I’m still eating OK, so energy levels are pretty normal.

Cotterstock.

  • Hello Cotterstock and wellcome, though we have different cancers, I am terminal, but like you i am positive in reasonable shape and still independent with only a couple of day to day issues, been on my journey nearly 2 years, future uncertain so enjoying the now. take care.

  • Hi Eddie

Thanks for reply.  So glad to hear that you're seizing the day and trying to enjoy life. My attitude exactly!

I found my chemo session this week pretty tough, but apart from some neuropathy in fingers and toes,  I'm.pretty well. I certainly look "normal" which is really important- although my friends tell.me that it doesn't matter!

Stay strong and I'm.here to chat anytime. Have a good weekend and carry on being kind to.youself!

  • Thanks Coterstock, never had chemo myself but know it has it's side effects, be sure to tell your chemo team about them as they can usually help, hope you have plans for the weekend, take care.
