Hello from a grandpa!

I am a 70 year old grandfather who has been very recently diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and is waiting to be contacted by my local Urology Department. All this is very new and unfamiliar to me so please forgive any damn fool comments or questions!

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat community Papageno although I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

I'm sure you must be contending with a lot of emotions at the moment but I'm glad you've joined us as so many of our members know how scary and daunting this journey can be, so you are not alone, and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

We have some information about renal cell carcinoma on our website but for further information and advice, you can give our team of cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're thinking of you Papageno and will be here to support you every step of the way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you so much for your kind words of welcome. Yes, I am still very much at sea largely because no one has been in touch with me since I was referred to my local Urology Department!

  • You're very welcome Papageno.

Hopefully someone will be in touch with you soon, but if you're worried don't be afraid of trying to chase this up if you have a contact number for the urology department, or through your GP.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Well two days ago,I was seen by the Oncologist s who were very helpful. I am being offered two types of Immunotherapy, one more radical than the other. I favour being more cautious and am considering taking the less risky option.I go back in two weeks!
